The region of Pylos (called Pylia) is located in the prefecture (nomos) Messinia on the Peloponnissos peninsula in the south part of Greece.

Messinia's capital is Kalamata, located in the northwest part. 

 

The region of Pylos itself covers the southwestern tip of Messinia.
The distance from Pylos to Kalamata is about 40 km and the capital can be reached by car or bus in around 1 hour.
